The NCC Education Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business Information Technology programme at Maritime Greenwich College is a gateway to the MSc Strategic Business Information Technology awarded by the University of Portsmouth.

NCC Education’s Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business Information Technology offers students a strategic and holistic perspective of Information Technology, Information Systems and Computing application in ‘real life’ business and enterprises. It widens the students horizons and employability in the ever- competitive job market.

Programme Learning Outcomes

This programme provides you with a thorough knowledge of IT in business and gives you the academic skills and credits for progression to an MSc degree. A strong IT theme runs through the programme, building on existing technical competencies to an advanced level.

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent,

OR

A non-IT degree with at least 3 years' vocational IT experience, some at managerial/supervisory level,

OR

Five years' vocational IT experience, some of which is managerial/supervisory.

ALSO

Candidates who have not studied at Bachelor's level using English language need an IELTS 6.5 or an equivalent deemed suitable by NCC Education.

Assessment Mode:

Coursework, case-studies and seminars. No examinations.

Programme Learning Outcomes

The follow-up to the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Business IT, it is designed to build on your existing IT skills and develop the skills and knowledge to undertake IT management responsibilities and senior roles. It will do so be exploring the principles of research relating to the strategic issues associated with businesses operating within the IT environment, culminating in a significant study project aiming to resolve such an issue.

In addition, the programme aims to:

Develop a range of key problem-solving skills by means of opportunities provided in the Research Methods unit

This top-up programme consists of two elements:

Entry Requirements

NCC Education PgD SBIT

AND

IELTS 6.5 or an equivalent deemed suitable by NCC Education and the University of Portsmouth

AND

an undergraduate degree or 5 years’ recent experience in a related professional field.

Assessment Mode:

This 60-credit programme is 100% assessment based, with 15 credits for the Research Methods Unit, requiring the construction of a project specification, and 45 credits for the Research Project unit, assessed by Dissertation.

Academic Progression

Students graduating from the MSc with the University of Portsmouth may apply to undertake a research degree, however, such progression is not automatic.

Career Progression

MSc SBIT graduates can expect to enter Senior Management posts.

Duration

Three months part-time for the Research Methods unit, after successful completion of which the Research Project may be undertaken in no fewer than 18 weeks and no longer than one year.

Delivery Method

Online through a Virtual Learning Environment, supported by email and instant messaging and supported by an academic supervisor at the project stage.
