BSc (Hons) in Business Computing via Diploma in IT

Maritime Greenwich College (MGC) has an "Articulation Agreement" with London Metropolitan University (London Met) that allows MGC Diploma holders to join the University to obtain full bachelor honours degree in Business Computing.

The aim of the course is to prepare students for careers in business as IT professionals. The modules encompass the social and ethical aspects of IT, as well as technical issues, in order to furnish graduates with an understanding of the needs of end users and business organisations, ensuring graduates have the technical skills to meet those requirements. The course will therefore provide the pathways to continue study on London Met BSc (Hons) final year Business Computing top-up programme or extremely successful and rewarding careers such as IT professionals, systems developers, and software developers.

Duration of Programme

You will study for 3 years in London to gain your degree, which is awarded by London Metropolitan University.

The first two years will be spent at Maritime Greenwich College in London, studying for two years Diploma in IT (DIT) awarded by Maritime Greenwich College. The full time programme is two semesters each year over two years. The course can be completed within three semesters in an accelerated mode.

You will then be able to transfer directly to the final year of the BSC (Hons) Business Computing course at London Met, via their Diploma top-up programme. Top-up degree offers students the opportunity to 'top up' their Diploma and gain full UK undergraduate honours degree status in just one year. Direct entry into the third year of the BSc (Hons) Business Computing course, at London South Bank University, is subject to:

Students have successfully completed at two years of the MGC Diploma in Information Technology with an overall Grade of Merit.

Students achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with (Writing 5.5, Reading 5.5, Listening 5.5 and Speaking 5.5 in the IELTS sub scores) in order to meet the minimum GSCE English language requirement.

Those students who have completed the MGC Diploma in Information Technology with an overall grade of Pass will be considered for progression to Year 2 (Intermediate Level) of London Met degree course BSc Business Information Technology.

Entry Requirements

Candidates for entry will normally be expected to have a successful completion of twelve years of education and reasonable command of written and spoken English is required for this course. UK ‘A’ Levels or equivalent or MGC International Foundation Programme is also acceptable.

Mature student applicants and those with relevant professional and vocational qualifications, and these will be dealt with on an individual basis and may require an interview.

In the case of applicants whose mother tongue is not English, then IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) is required.

Top-up degree offers students the opportunity to 'top up' their Diploma and gain full UK undergraduate honours degree status in just one year. To be eligible for a Top-up degree students need to:

bullet have successfully completed at two years of the MGC Diploma in Information Technology with an overall Grade of Merit.

Final Year (Year 3)
BA (Hons) in Business Computing at London Metropolitan University

You will take eight modules over one year, including
• Management Support Systems
• E-commerce Applications
• Advanced Database Systems
• Post-implementation Issues
• E-business
• Computing Project
